About

In Afternoon Air
In Afternoon Air is a radio show on WMUC-FM College Park at the University of Maryland, College Park. WMUC, available on 88.1 FM is the university’s freeform campus radio station. In Afternoon Air attempts to put a focus on new music that could be considered underground, but there are occasional mainstream leanings.
Please visit WMUC’s website for more information as well as a link to stream the show.
This Tumblr is the companion blog for the radio show. Weekly playlists will be posted here, along with links to download and stream the show. This site is also the home to the In Afternoon Air Monthly Mixtape series. New mixtapes will be posted at the end of each month with tracks that received lots of play during the previous 28, 29, 30 or 31 days. Photos from shows along with new tracks from bands, plus anything else really, will be found here as well.
In Afternoon Air first came to WMUC in September 2010 when it received the 4-6 p.m. time slot on FM. For Spring 2011, it was shuffled over to WMUC2 in the same time slot before making a triumphant return to FM for Fall 2011 in the evening at 6-8 p.m. Spring 2012 featured new territory from 12-2 p.m. on Thursdays. Fall 2012 should be groundbreaking as well, so stay tuned for that.
