1. Beach Fossils - “Shallow”

From a 7” that’s coming out Feb. 21, we find Dustin Payseur returning to a more blissed out sound that was found on the 2010 self-titled. While 2011’s What A Pleasure EP was a solid release, the tracks felt dark and weighed down with emotion. While the emotion in “Shallow” is still easy to feel, the space the track operates in is much more open with a mindless, head-bobbing melody. I put on the self-titled every once in a while to marvel at how solid of a release of it is and how I miss the careless feel of it, but “Shallow” feels like Payseur is bringing that feeling back.
