Last fall, a little record store opened up in my hometown in suburban Maryland in the basement of a building on Main Street. I didn’t get the chance to visit it until last November and was in and out, making a few purchases here and there. While I rarely buy stuff from there because I try to restrict myself from spending too much cash at home, it’s nice when you just need that impulse buy, like today, when I picked up Guided By Voices’ Alien Lanes and listened to it three times at home. Something even more convenient than the Internet. Who knew?
Anyway, the great people over at CODA Records put on shows in the small, cramped, warm space every few weeks and I got the chance to stop by for the first time on Saturday night and see Sea Patterns. Sea Patterns is Kevin, Jeff and Chris, and they make some of the sickest jams. They received quite a bit of play at times on In Afternoon Air. This video is of a new track featuring some great bass work from Jeff. Keep a look out for their Kid Pop demo to resurface as an EP on wax sometime soon. Also keep yr eyes peeled for something special involving Sea Patterns and In Afternoon Air in the next few months.
