Alex Bleeker - “Never Going Back”
I’m enjoying my last fleeting moments of being at home for the summer by packing frantically, shaking from caffeine and stressing about whether or not I’m going to be able to fit my records and record player in my room in my apartment this afternoon when I move back in. It’s not that fun. I hate moving. But on the plus side, it will mean more In Afternoon Air on WMUC, plus the the new Thru The Wall Radio featuring Emily (hopefully) and a bunch of other projects in College Park.
On the night before the first day of classes last year, I posted this Alex Bleeker track on my Facebook, mainly for the chorus of “Ooh, I’m never going back to school” because I kind of agree with that sentiment and I kind of can’t wait for it to be true. But despite that sentiment, there’s still some optimism in the track and it just works. It’s the type of song I wish I could write.
I kind of wanted to write some kind of lame summer retrospective right here, but I hate getting personal and all that. But it was a pretty sweet summer, despite that fact that it was incredibly #dark at times (a lot of times, actually). Still, I got to meet a lot of great people, see a ton of cool music live, awkwardly get tacos with my favorite band and just experience what could be my last summer of just living at home and doing almost whatever I want while still traveling a bit. Because, you know, real life.
So yeah, this is my last post from home base, and In Afternoon Air should get rolling pretty soon. And there’s going to be plenty of surprises on that front. So yeah.
Stay real y’all, and see you on the other side.
