Twerps - “He’s In Stock”

TWERPS. When the Stereogum premiere of this track graced my twitter feed earlier this afternoon, I was absolutely thrilled. Marty, Rick, Jules and Pat will always hold a special place in mine and my sister’s hearts because of an interview we did with Marty and Rick in March 2011 in Washington before I saw them for the first time. I was instantly smitten with the Australians, both for the fact they were just nice people and because the songs they write are so addicting and just…good.

“He’s In Stock” is quintessential Twerps. From the jangly rhythm guitar to the bass/guitar riffing in between the verses to the little “woo!” Marty lets out about 43 seconds into the track. It’s everything that makes the Twerps the Twerps and why the quartet’s self-titled from last fall was one of my favorites of the year. Keep a keen eye out for this 7”, fronted by “Work It Out,” backed by “He’s In Stock.” And if the band’s Instagram is any indication, there could be a video on the way?

“Work It Out” / “He’s In Stock” is due out digitally on Sept. 18 and on vinyl Oct. 23 via Underwater Peoples and Chapter Music. Also, the Twerps will be in D.C. at the Black Cat on Oct. 17 with Alex Bleeker (of Real Estate) and in Baltimore the night before. I missed the band in spring 2012, so I might have to pass up the Beach House ticket I have for the same night to be reunited…
