Woods - “Is It Honest?”

I don’t know what it was, but this song just jumped out to me the first time I listened to the Woods album. “Bend Beyond” is a dope opener and “Cali In A Cup” is the perfect pop song, but “Is It Honest?” just captured me. Maybe it was the electric guitar that sits on top of the acoustic or that beat…or just the lyrics. The sentiment of this song just hit me pretty hard because FEELINGS and I just had to take the time to transcribe it. Because that’s what I do with songs I truly love, and I think “Is It Honest?” is one of those. Just read these lyrics and try not to get chills. Every time Jeremy Earl says, “It’s so fucking hard,” I tighten up a little inside because, yeah, it’s so fucking hard. Is it honest, though?

Don’t let them bring you down tonight
Take a walk in the streets
You in my arms this time
You know it feels so right.

As the nice as this is, is it honest?
Recollection so fun, were you thinking of me?
And dream we move closer to sunsets
It’s so far fucking hard to see.

Don’t let them bring you down tonight
Take a walk with the streets
You in my arms this time
You know it feels just fine.

As blood drips from bone, can you feel me?
As nice as this is, is it honest to you?
And dream we move closer to sunsets
And it’s so fucking hard.

Can you relieve me?
Can you relieve me?

As nice as this is, is it honest?
Recollection so fun, were you thinking of me?
And dream we move closer to sunsets
And it’s so fucking hard.
