Aphids - “Coca Cola Drive”
This summer, I drove down to College Park from my home to attend a meeting of some sorts for academics and school and all that jazz. Before I left, I posted a Facebook status about coming down, and my friend Robby posted that his band was going to be down at WMUC recording. So after my meeting, I headed over to the station to meet up with Robby and his band, Aphids. They offered me some donuts and coffee before they embarked on the quest of recording their debut album — due out Sunday via bandcamp.
During the 30ish minutes I was there, I watched them run through a myriad of songs, including the posted one, “Coca Cola Drive.” It’s a complex journey of a track with a million different parts. But Trevor, John, Robby, Thomas and Nick do their best to take you on it. Keep an eye out for these guys. I love their songs. I can’t wait until John gets back from Denmark and they start playing shows.
